Recognizable by its mottled, peeling bark and broad leaves, sycamore grows fast along creek bottoms and provides some of the tallest canopy in a mature riparian corridor.
Its extensive root system stabilizes banks on wider creeks and rivers, and it tolerates the wet feet that would kill many upland species.
